CARZOLA BELIEVES XAVI WILL BECOME BARCELONA MANAGER ONE DAY

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Carzola believes Xavi will return to Barcelona one day as a coach when the time is right. Carzola who now plays under Xavi at Al Sadd was once teammates with the former Barcelona man for the Spain national team and thinks a Camp Nou return is on the cards for Xavi.

That time has not come yet though, as Xavi is still holding a coaching role at Al Sad, and Ronald Koeman recently taking up the Barcelona job after the Spanish giants sacked former manager Setien.

Barca have never downplayed any reports linking them to assigning a former player to take up the job. They have hinted that they will be more than willing to open the doors for such a move to happen.

Before the appointments and sacking of the club’s last two managers Ernesto Valverde and QuiqueSetien, Barcelona made several approaches towards convincing Xavi to become the Catalan giants’ permanent manager, but that hasn’t yet come to pass.

The reason for this is that Xavi believes he still needs to gather more experience on the touchline, before deciding to take a full-time job at a huge club like Barcelona. Since called time on his playing career at the club, his sole focus has been set on ensuring he oversees a successful tenure as manager of Qatar team Al Sadd.

Xavi and Carzola both enjoyed a successful European Championship campaign, emerging as winners in the 2008 edition of the competition. And now, the pair have linked up in Qatar, with the former Gunners man signing up to playing under his former Spain midfield partner Xavi.

Carzola said Xavi is a top coach, he has a lot of leadership qualities and will be a great coach at Barcelona.
