BARCELONA: XAVIWILL DEMAND FIVE SIGNINGS

Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez will demand five signings if he returns to the Nou Camp to replace Dutchman Ronald Koeman as their manager. This is according to the report from El Nacional which stated that former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez will request for five new players before he accepts the managerial position at the club.

Xavi Hernandez came through the famed La Masia Academy and he went on to become a key player for the club. The Spaniard was an important player for Barcelona in their most successful era. He is one of many names who have been linked with the managerial position at the Nou Camp with Koeman under serious pressure to turn the fortunes of the club around especially in the Champions League.

Under Koeman, Barcelona have started the new Champions League campaign with two successive defeat. Barcelona were thrashed 3-0 at home by German champions Bayern Munich courtesy the goals from Thomas Mueller and Robert Lewandowski (two goals). The loss to Bayern Munich was followed by another 3-0 defeat at the home of Portuguese giants Benfica.

On the possibility of Xavi Hernandez becoming the next Barcelona manager, the abovementioned report stated that Xavi has a clear idea of the players he need if the Joan Laporta-led Barcelona board gives him the managerial job at the club. It was revealed that a creative midfielder is at the top of the list of potential signings for Xavi if he becomes the Barcelona manager as he wants to play his positional play football at the club.

Barcelona have a lot of midfielders from Pedri to Gavi to Frenkie De Jong to Sergio Busquets but they lack a creative presence. Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho can provide a lot of creativity but his time at Barcelona has been affected by a lot of injuries.

Apart from a creative midfielder, Xavi also wants two fullback, a winger and a centre forward.
